"She Plays with Fire" is a limited edition handheld kaleidoscope by Randy and Shelley Knapp. 27 of these were made. The body of the scope is Box Elder Burlwood with Wenge accents. There is a fluid-filled, turning end object cell that has a black background and includes Shelley's lovely lampworked Lucini beads. The object cell is a "roof prism" design that gathers light from the front and the side of the object cell so it is not only side-lit but back-lit as well, with light pouring in at a 45 degree angle from the "roof prism". This illuminates the glass pieces from all angles creating a 3-D image at times. This scope has a 2-mirror 5-point system, has front surface mirrors, and has a magnification lens. This scope measures 9-1/4"L x 2-3/4" in diameter at the eyepiece end, it comes with a small matching wooden stand and it is signed and dated (1994) by the artists. The movement and images in this scope are wonderful!
